Shaping the Way We Teach English (Webinar 4.1)

Today I've received an approving of my membership in social network "Shaping the Way We Teach English". I've been waiting for the acceptance of my account for more than a week. And now i have an access to all useful resources of this excellent community for teachers of English.

First of all i decided to watch the Webinar 4.1 "Exploiting Literature in Project-based Learning" and now I'm going to write several conclusions, which I made after the review.

  •  There are the next lesson models: TBL model (Task-based Model); Teach-Test-Teach (TTT) Model; Presentation-Practice-Production (PPP) and another.
  • The author of Webinar makes an accent on TBL model, which has the next Framework:
    1. PRE-TASK –Introductionto the topic and task
      • Explore the topic
      • Highlight useful words and phrases
      • Provide task instructions
      • Group learners in pairs or small groups
    2. TheTask –Focus on form or meaning
      • Plan how they will tell the process and results
      • Perform the Task
      • Report –orally or in writing
    3. LanguageFocus
      • Learners examine language features that they have learned (introspective)
      • The teacher may select language features for practice
  • There are two examples of TBL using Literature: a task based lesson plan using examples from a variety of literature AND a single piece of literature as a focal point for the task based lesson.
  • We can use different types of tasks, for example:
  • Very important thing is selecting of projects and questions that may interest your students: (additional suggestions welcome from the audience).

P.S.  I like such way of education very much and wait for the next Webinar.
